Readers' reviews

Few books pack so much wisdom and guidance into such a succinct tome. Crossing the Nonsense Divide is dense with insight. It gently engenders a mindset that enables the reader to realize what really matters and to begin moving towards one's own life success path. This is a book to read and re-read; each reading will yield uniquely profound meanings based on where the reader is on his/her path.

In this book, James has helped us look honestly at the stupidity of carrying worthless, stinking debris we have collected over the years like garbage. He writes about our ridiculous transportation of nonsense in a way that helps you actually see it for what it is: A waste of precious life. He shows that unloading it can be a process just as easily as an event. If we could discard our collection of nonsense, and replace it with joy and fulfillment, imagine what we could accomplish - or as important, imagine how good we'd feel right now. Maybe that is the biggest accomplishment James has shown us.

This is not a read and absorb book, its a read and do book - an act-ion book. McIntosh has put his finger on the heart of two of the major problems facing us. Firstly, to shed the baggage that hampers our growth and secondly, to commit to do--to live--what is required for each of us to reach our personal potential--whatever we choose it to be. In our quick-fix, image-worshipping, nonsensical society, McIntosh's voice is an island of sanity, echoing ancient wisdom and encouraging us to drop all the nonsense in our lives and to become what we are capable of being. I have seen how this no nonsense approach has changed lives and how it has helped those who have changed, to unwittingly help others. It is never too late to begin from where you are. Read it!

Over the years, I've read - with little success - a number of books purporting to show me the way to maximize my life. Mr. McIntosh takes a different road by simply presenting his own perspectives and thoughts involved in our everyday lives - many of which loudly resonated within my own world. He offers real world ideas and suggestions for coping with and overcoming the noisy "nonsense" of our lives and to cross over his "nonsense divide" into our own realm of relative sanity. I found his writing to be very thought-provoking, often requiring me put down his book to digest some of his ideas and consider how they actually apply to my life. I was actually led, or pushed, over my own nonsense divide recently. My employer had been restructuring and reorganizing and re-this and re-that with huge amounts of unending turmoil and pressure. I finally decided that was enough nonsense and began walking my own path back across (or maybe just towards) the divide - one of the 1st steps, among many, being to move to a more reasonable job. Many of Mr. McIntosh's thoughts & ideas very much helped me in understanding my frustrations and organizing my considerations and decisions.
